"80% of young people believe in God"

"ethnic Russians are marginalized"

Read about Latvia in:

Latvia
Since the Middle Ages Latvia has been ruled by the Germans, the Danes, the Swedes and the Russians. A brief period of independence form 1917 – 1940 was ended when Russia invaded again. Stalin’s response to any opposition was brutal; a fifth of the population was killed. Many more were forced to leave their country and Russians were moved in to take their place.
The effects of this devastating part of Latvia’s history still echo today. Only half of the population are ethnic Latvians - ethnic Russians are marginalized because of the wrongs that some Russians committed in the past.

Challenges for Prayer
Pray that the country can get to grips with its identity and recognise the culture, history and language of Russian, Ukrainian and Polish minorities.
Pray that Christians leaders can be trained, equipped and supported in their role.
80% of young people believe in God, but few have had the opportunity to give their lives to Jesus. Pray that people will be called with a vision to disciple them – and help them understand God’s purpose for their lives.
